preggy chronicles: the baby's first few items

knowledge risk
i was browsing the net for some resources on operational risk to help improve the design of the opsrisk system i'm doing at work. *had to delete evil officemate thoughts* anyhow, i came across this (from wikipedia)
Intangible risk management identifies a new type of risk - a risk that has a 100% probability of occurring but is ignored by the organization due to a lack of identification ability. For example, when deficient knowledge is applied to a situation, a knowledge risk materializes.

preggy chronicles: food cravings at the office
it was noontime, mid-week and all i could think of for lunch was the taste of tomatoes. so off to joey pepperoni (around two blocks from the office) i went by my lonesome. mmm, tomato soup, mmm...
the tomato soup itself was very pleasant and "soothed" my craving. however, i made the mistake of ordering some rice meal and silly me, i only read the "juicy steak" part. the platter came with a hamburger steak on it. ulk. for some weird reason, my tummy "rejects" any kind of burgers (well, except burger king burgers). i could eat burgers but my ulky-burger-burp would haunt me for the next two hours or so, making me guilty (repent might be a better term) for eating it in the first place.
so while i was happy with my joey pep tomato soup, i knew i'd get hungry a few minutes later because i only finished half of the burger steak. on my way back to the office, i passed by good ole seven eleven to seek uh, happy food.
i got my goodies and happily marched to the counter, where i noticed the pretty yellow bananas. i asked the counter guy to get one for me. counter guy gets a banana, then noticing the cheez wiz and maybe feeling concerned, he asked, "ma'am sky flakes?" i politely said no, because i still had sky flakes in the office. he then asked if i wanted a hotdog. hmmn. he probably thinks these goodies are all that i will be having for lunch. hindi ano, dessert lang ito! :-)
achiever
A: close pala kayo?
B: of course! achiever eh.
A: helloh? hwag ka na mag-ambisyon. si *name of person na achiever talaga by reputation* lang ang achiever.
B: i'm sorry pero achiever talaga ako, noh.
*some other emote text snipped*
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
Is the greatest love of all
preggy chronicles: feeling the baby move for the first time
yeah, yeah. malapit nang maging preggy chronicles blog itong si dukha, pero hindi ko matiis. i need to blog this. i do! i do!
first off. had an ultrasound a few weeks ago and we found out Mo's gender (teka, pikit ka muna kung gusto mong masuspense kung babae o lalaki si Mo.) we were expecting a girl because (a) sabi ng manghuhula (b) napanaginipan ni daddy na girl ang baby ko (c) slip of the tongue ni ama, "ineng" daw si baby (d) all of the above. kaya naman, nagulat kami na sinabi ni friendly sonologist. na boy si Mo, (and sorry baby girls, strict ang parents ni Mo.) ang saya-saya ni hub. i've never seen him so happy and excited. kahit tignan mo pa lahat ng wedding pictures, o kahit pagsentihan ko yung expression niya noong nagets nya yung mahiwagang sagot almost ten years ago, wala siyang ganoong ngiti/mukha. i took a mental picture of his expression. priceless talaga. we're having a baby boy! woohoow!
wednesday night, we watched iron man. (talo ka, batman.) sometime during the movie, i was feeling some movements in my tummy and since the movements were somewhat rhythmic, nadecide-an ko talaga na si Mo iyon. hindi gas, hindi gutom-grumble (hey, may kinakain akong chicken breast fillet at that time). basta, parang tumitibok or sinisinok. natuwa naman ako. shempre, gusto kong ishare yung moment kay hub. nilagay ko ang kamay niya sa tiyan ko, at medyo nahiya rin ako kasi baka biglang tumigil yung movements ni Mo.
preggy chronicles: safe plastic bottles for babies?
one advantage of having a net-savvy father-to-be by my side is that i am updated with the recent nerdy news. today, hubby is very concerned about the plastic water bottles we use at home, especially since these may contain Bisphenol-A (BPA).
Bisphenol A, or BPA, is used to make polycarbonate plastic, a clear shatter-resistant material in products ranging from plastic baby and water bottles to sports safety equipment and medical devices. It also is used to make durable epoxy resins used as the coating in most food and beverage cans. People can eat or drink the chemical when it leaches out of the plastic into liquid such as baby formula, water or food inside the container.
how to check if your plastics are safe?
our earth hour 2008
happy easter
came across this blog entry which shows an easter egg made in mathematica. cool huh?
and because i couldn't stop bloghopping, i came across these math blogs:
walking randomly and ramblings of a math mom.
hey, i even came across kakuro (not related to sudoku nor sadako), a math puzzle which can reinforce a kid's addition and multiplication skills.
oh, btw. happy easter everyone! happy egg! :-P
preggy chronicles: 15 weeks
just sharing this piece of information from babycenter that made us both smile today:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam.
awww... :-)
